Board game

A board game so easy you can’t stop playing

Pagania is an innovative tabletop strategy game for two players, born from years of experience and an original idea. Designed and Made in Poland, EU.

Goal of the game

The goal of this two-player game is to defeat the enemy army using the Game Box. Victory can be achieved by:

  1. 1 destroying all enemy units on the Battlefield,
  2. 2 capturing or slaying the enemy Leaders,
  3. 3 holding the Key Location for 4 Turns in a row,
  4. 4 blocking the enemy Start Locations,
  5. 5 exposing cheating in the composition of the Icon deck,
  6. 6 a voluntary surrender by one of the players.

The Game Board

Battle Map

Two interchangeable landscape boards that combine in any configuration. The Base Set has 4 terrain boards, which give you as many as 6 different maps.

Barracks

Empty spaces on the Board where all the unit tokens chosen before the game are laid out.

Icon slots

Places for played Aura, Hazard, Trap and Blessing cards.

Tokens

Bas-reliefs set on round bases. They depict regiments and Leaders, and their reverse side doubles as a combat calculation guide.

Icon deck

From 33 to 111 cards, built by rank rules: Common, Uncommon and Rare.

Rulers and D6 dice

For measuring shooting range and resolving combat.

Key rules of the Battle Map

  • Units move only between round locations connected by a line.
  • Terrain height matters when shooting, moving and charging.
  • Blue locations are Start Points for units recruited from the Barracks.
  • Orange locations are Places of Power that let units use their Special Traits.
  • The red location is the Central Point where the two boards meet. Whoever controls it at the end of their turn draws an extra card.

Units

Every army has its own style, formations and Leaders. They faithfully reflect a nation, its way of fighting and its stats: Stars (Level), Leadership, Defence and Range.

Infantry

Moves one location per turn, can shoot and fight in melee.

Cavalry

Two moves per turn, and a charge grants an extra melee attack. Hills always cost 2 moves.

Machines

Strike the enemy at range and get a free rotation move.

A turn

The game is divided into Turns. In each, a player draws a card from the Icon deck, may play up to 3 cards and may move every token, in this order:

  1. A Charge declarations
  2. B Unit moves
  3. C Castling (1 per round)
  4. D Ranged shot
  5. E Melee
  6. F Resolution and Panic tests

Four kinds of Icons

Auras

Global range: the effect applies to every unit on the Map and stays in play.

Hazards

Cast only on enemy units, one-off or staying in play.

Traps

Played on empty locations. They trigger when a unit steps in.

Blessings

Cast only on your own units, one-off or staying in play.
